EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

The Employment Services program considers the individuals we support as builders of our future. We believe in the potential of each person and treat every person equally.  We assist people to explore various career opportunities and offer training such as First Aid/CPR, WHIMIS, defensive driving and other trainings that will provide them with the skills necessary to become successful in their job of choice.  Employment Services also offers supports in the community as well as on-going job coaching.  

 

COMMUNITY ACCESS SUPPORTS

Community Access Supports are intended to assist people to make community connections and engage in activities such as volunteer work, literacy training, sports, music, leisure activities etc… These supports are offered individually or in groups based on the person’s preference and the availability of community options and agency resources. 

 

CLINICAL SERVICES

A wide variety of specialized support services are provided by, or accessed through

the clinical services program. The services of a behavior therapist are available to

assist some individuals to develop skills and communication tools to regain control

personally and in their relationship with others.

 

Through various partnerships and purchase of service, other clinical interventions

and supports are available such as psychiatric assessment and treatment, speech/

communication therapies, individual and group counseling, physiotherapy,

occupational therapy and other interventions that promote well-being and health.

 

SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE IN TRANSITION FROM SCHOOL

TO COMMUNITY LIFE

Transition planning supports for students between the ages of 14 and 18, who

have a developmental disability and are at the secondary school level.

 

SUPPORTS TO FAMILIES


•    BROKERAGE

Families who receive direct dollars from government, ie through Special Services at Home for children or Passport for adults, may request that this money be brokered though Community Living West Nipissing. 

 

•    OUT-OF-HOME RESPITE

 Families whose sons or daughters live at home may receive 48 hours a month of out of home respite for their son or daughter paid by the agency.  There is no cost to the family for this service.


  1.    CHILDREN’S RESPITE

Families with sons and daughters under the age of 18 may receive respite for their child paid by the Ministry and brokered through Community living West Nipising.  There is no cost to the family for this service.

SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING

This service is intended for persons who wish to live on their own and require some assistance with activities of daily living.  Hours of support vary depending on the person’s needs.

 

FAMILY HOME

Family Home provides applicants with the opportunity to live as part of a family in the  community.  


Families are recruited and then matched to a person's individuality while taking into consideration the family's ability to provide supports based on the needs of that individual.

 

GROUP HOMES

Group homes provide 24-hour support in a group setting to persons over the age of 18.


The agency has three homes from which persons can choose depending on available vacancies and compatibility with other residents.


All applicants for adult supports and services with Community Living West Nipissing must make a request for services through the regional point of access which is Developmental Services Ontario (North East Region) (DSO).  Following confirmation of eligibility, Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) will complete the application for services and match with the appropriate services based on priority. 


SUPPORTED APARTMENTS

The goal of this program is to provide a safe, respectful, intensive support community-based living environment to adults with a developmental disability and mental illness who are not in need of hospitalization but who need more extensive supports to ensure their safety and that of others.

The Supported Apartments are accessible to persons who have a developmental disability and require behavioral supports. Priority will be given to individuals who present with severe behavioral challenges requiring a high support community-based living environment with access to specialized clinical supports on an outreach basis.
